I used to envision what it felt like to get older, especially during the years I helped care for my elderly parents. I dreaded the notion of increased aches and pains and thinking the best years were behind me.

Now that I’m in that “not-quite-so-young” phase of life myself, I’ve realized that I have been looking at it all wrong.

I can’t think of anything that embodies this positive message more than the 81-year-old icon Martha Stewart being selected as one of four cover models in the 2023 Sports Illustrated swimsuit guide.
